Single’s day is well known by the people of China. As it came from the word “Single” means it is a day where singles celebrates, buy things for themselves and even try their luck to find a person who can be their lover. Single’s day is literally called bare sticks holiday as it represents 11.11 or November 11 where the said holiday was celebrated annually. Why was it called China’s biggest shopping holiday? It is indeed a question in mind by many who doesn’t seem to have an idea about Single’s day. Single’s day began in the year of 2009, six years ago, and a lot of businesses took advantage of it to promote or boost people to go shopping between the two major holidays in China which is the National day and the Lunar year.

We all know that there is almost 1.3 billion of population of people in China. Who doesn’t love shopping when online shopping malls and other businesses drop their price down and gives a lot of discounts during the shopping event? Of course everyone loves that deal. China’s largest company, Alibaba, had a big sale and was said to have bigger sales than Facebook Inc. Taobao and Tmall, Alibaba’s two main companies, has earned 35 billion yuan ($5.75 billion) within the 24-hour period, surpassing the sales of 19.1 billion yuan last 2012, Alibaba stated from their official twitter account.

A lot of netizens around the world has concluded that China may surpass USA as Single’s day nearly tripled Cyber Monday’s sales that hit $1.98 billion which made November 11 as the biggest one-day shopping event in the world.
